I know I won't be as rich as Lee Ka Shing, but that doesn't stop me from dreaming. :) The only use of history is for future's reference other than for the sake of nostalgia. Like you said, who knows what would have happen if you did B instead of A back then. More importantly, it is impossible to roll back in time anyway, so why think about it. On the other hand, I do look back and think about if there's anything I should have considered before deciding on certain action. It's a pure post-event evaluation to see how I can do a better job next time. What I find is that if you don’t look back and think what if I did this differently, you’ll be a happier person. Like you said, who knows what would have happen if you did B instead of A back then. More importantly, it is impossible to roll back in time anyway, so why think about it.
