新加坡的總理李顯龍﹐在上星期作出一個不尋常的政治決定﹐他在星洲長遠經濟利益為前題下﹐打破了過去四十年的賭禁﹐決定興建賭場以吸引遊客﹐不至落後於東南亞各計劃開賭的國家。在當地的思想保守社會上﹐這個決定引起強烈的反應。有不少反對賭博和教會團體﹐站出來示威抗議開賭會敗壞社會風氣﹐這種和政府對抗的情況在新加坡並不尋常。
