{"id":1505,"date":"2007-09-30T01:24:46","date_gmt":"2007-09-30T13:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.horace.org\/blog\/2007\/09\/30\/ex-in-wedding\/"},"modified":"2007-09-30T01:24:46","modified_gmt":"2007-09-30T13:24:46","slug":"ex-in-wedding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horace.org\/blog\/2007\/09\/30\/ex-in-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex in Wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I went to a friend&#8217;s wedding.\u00a0 The wedding follows the typical PMC style, ceremony in CMCC, banquet in Kirin.\u00a0 Somehow almost everyone working in PMC have their banquet in Kirin, including myself.\u00a0 Just like every other wedding, I bump into some long time no see friends.\u00a0 One of an old friend I come across is the ex of the bride.\u00a0 I am quite surprise seeing him show up in the wedding.\u00a0 He flew all the way from HK just to attend the wedding.\u00a0 I know him from connection through my Waterloo friends, so I am kinda neutral on whom the bride pick as the groom.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow the best man has the same first name as my friend, and both of them flew from HK for the wedding.\u00a0 When the groom read his thank you list, we who know the history but not aware the name of best man, almost dropped our jaws, wondering why would the groom want to thank the ex of the bride.\u00a0 Of course, it turns out it is just a misunderstanding.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese wedding has silly games.\u00a0 One of the game is the bride has to find the groom among the guests.\u00a0 The MC prepared masks with picture of the groom&#8217;s head, asking one guy from each table wearing the masks, trying to confuse the bride.\u00a0 At first, we want to make the ex wears the mask, but he refuse indistinctly.\u00a0 He said it would be really embarrass if the bride pick him by mistake.\u00a0 I think the real reason is no guy want to pretend to be the guy marrying your girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p>In Chinese wedding, the guests toast with the wedding couple and force them to drink some alcohol.\u00a0 The wedding couple are very easy going, don&#8217;t mind having a toast with any guests come forward to congratulate them.\u00a0 Any guest, except the ex.\u00a0 Somehow the groomsman refuse the toast from the ex and he is quite upset.\u00a0 At the end of the banquet, he manage to have a toast and take a photo with the bride quietly, while the groom is away busy doing something else.\u00a0 Probably the bride want to stay away from the ex in front of her husband.\u00a0 But if she cares, why invite him in the first place?<\/p>\n<p>Why the bride would invite her ex to the wedding and why would the ex come?\u00a0 I can never understand how a couple break up and still be friends without feeling weird.\u00a0 Maybe they just pretend to be normal.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think invite your ex to your wedding or going to your ex&#8217;s wedding is a good idea.\u00a0 Why take the chance to be humiliated or reminds yourself once again the bad memories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I went to a friend&#8217;s wedding.\u00a0 The wedding follows the typical PMC style, ceremony in CMCC, banquet in Kirin.\u00a0 Somehow almost everyone working in PMC have their banquet in Kirin, including myself.\u00a0 Just like every other wedding, I bump into some long time no see friends.\u00a0 One of an old friend I come across &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horace.org\/blog\/2007\/09\/30\/ex-in-wedding\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Ex in Wedding<\/span> <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"lc_iscn_info":[],"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1505","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-_scribble"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
