My random thoughts of the day.

Chinese medicine

I boiled some chinese medicine for myself tonight and last night. Unfortunately, I couldn’t time it right, I always end up with half a bowl of medicine instead of a full bowl. As a result, the medicine is super concentrated. It is quite easy to boil the medicine, just throw all the ingredient into the electricity pot and plug it in. The pot will handle the rest, by turning down the power when the medicine is done. Cleaning the pot is less work than I had expected. I though the medicine taste so bad, the reminding in the pot must be very nasty. It turn out that I only have to throw away the residuals and rinse it with water. I feel better after drinking the medicine last night. Since it is not too much work, I will boil some every so often. I used to find the medicine taste awful, but somehow I become used to that awful taste. It doesn’t feel as bad as it was before.

Post Office

I went to the post office mail the ebay items I sold, insurance claim of my lost luggage together and a complain letter to Air Canada after work today. I am surprise the postal fee is quite expensive, especially when confirmation is required. In the modern fully computerized postal service, I wonder what is the incremental cost of assigning tracking number to each letter and parcel. Send a regular letter within Canada is $0.5, send a registered letter is $6.5. I have to pay $6 extra just for the confirmation of delivery, what a rip off. In near future, stamps will be embedded with RFID tags and all postal infrasturture from mailboxs to central office will have internet connected RFID reader implemented. This will provide a real time online tracking system to let the end users pin point the where about of their parcel.

eBay

I posted three items to sell on eBay recently, some old toys and 2 SD card came with my cannon. The bidding all finished today. I am surprised that I get a pretty good price on all of the items. The SD cards is sold for about the average closing of similiar items, and I got away with quite a decent shipping fee. I had made almost doublt my profit for holding the toy for a year. I got it for US$21 including shipping and now I sell it for $45 including shipping, I will know how much I will make exactly once I found out the shipping cost tomorrow. I will have to visit the post office tomorrow. I am a bit nervous that I may get scammed, but judging from the feedbacks of my buyers, they wouldn’t risk a negative feedback for something this cheap. Maybe I should dig around my place and see what other useless stuffs I can list on eBay.

Tag alone

I tag alone with Pat today for the whole day. First in the morning, I went to CMCC with Pat. After that we went to have dim-sum with her friends, the girls had their girl talks while I was concentrating on my newspaper. After lunch, yet another girl joined the group and they moved to the food cafe. I finished my newspaper and start listening to Verona’s first radio show. The show is pretty lame, just some mindless game. I am surprised at the among of common knowledge needed to win this game, especially on the entartainment related questions. Then I moved to bookstore wait for the girls finish their gathering. When Pat came to grep me, I was reading a new novel. The first few chapters are pretty good that I decided to buy it. Big mistakes, never turst the introduction on the cover. I was reading the novel while Pat was shopping at Daiso. Without me rushing her to go, since I was reading my new book, she had bought quite some stuff. I have to give more pressure to Pat next time in order to save money from getting useless stuffs.

Car Service

I took my car to regular service today. The appointment was at 9:30a.m. in the morning, but when I got up at 8:00a.m., I felt like want to sleep more, so I call the service center and reschedule the appointment to 1:00p.m. Since the service center moved to Coquitlam, whenever I take my car to service, I have to wait there for a few hours while they are checking my car. I had lunch at the nearby Mcdonald’s and have a cup of Latte at Starbuck, read the free newspaper provided by them. This afternoon was quite relaxing, when I get a pocket of time that I can’t spend it doing anything else. I finished a small book called Slow-down therapy, kinda match the theme of today. After I picked up my car, I found it runs more smoothly. I guess the servicing really did some work. My next service is in next March, I guess spending an relaxing afternoon doing nothing is not too bad every half a year. My car need maintance, my mind also need some maintance. I decided to use the regular car service as a chance to give some reflection to my life in the future.
