I wonder what makes a guy good enough to be a boyfriend, this question is posed when a friend of mine has trouble with her relationship. From my first impression, I thought the guy is pretty decent. But with more information from my friend, apparently he only has the outer shell that the inside is not quite up to standard. I told my friend that she can buy low and hold him for long term. While this guy has so many problem, she can fix them one by one like debugging some RTL code. Her response is it doesn’t worth the effort if she doesn’t get the title. I think in the end, it’s a problem of trust in the relationship.
On the other hand, sometimes having too good of inner character may not be a good thing. This is a true story. The boyfriend of a Pat’s friend decided to dump his girlfriend after the World Youth Day. The reason is he had the vocation call from God and decided to be a priest. I guess it really hard to accept this break up reason. If the guy leave you for another girl, you can still comfort yourself saying that girl maybe prettier, sexier. The guy choose celebrancy instead of a girl is as shocking as he is gay. How can you accept losing to a guy, or even worse, losing to merely an abstract concept?
I still don’t feel too well today. Therefore I didn’t go to the boat curise of my department, I rather stay home and have some rest. Moreover, I don’t think it would be very fun stuck in a shitty boat for 3 hours while it is raining outside. There isn’t much to see in the False Creek anyways.
Apple has relesaed a new version of iPod, iPod nano, which use flash memory instead of harddrive. I was talking to colleagues today about how inconvinient the iPod shuffle is, and I had mentioned maybe I would buy a iPod mini for cheap since this line will be discontinued. Anson said he wanted to get the new iPod nano and may sell his 2 months of iPod mini for cheap. He made a big mistake engraved his name at the back of his iPod mini, that will lower its resell value by a lot. The engraving is for free if order directly from Apple online. We had concluded it must a scam of Steve Jobs to kill the 2nd hand market of iPod. Normally, people don’t want to use something with someone else’s name on it. I won’t mind if it is cheap enough, or I am still fine with the iPod shuffle, I don’t listen to much mp3 these days anyways.
I took a sick leave and rested at home today. I think I am still not totally recovered from the super cold germs I got from Germany. After resting alot last night and cleaning up my home today, I feel a bit better. I also cooked my first dinner in over 3 months, finally my life can go back to normal. Pat is also sick, probably we caught the same germs in Europe. I was pretty ok last week, I thought I am already recovered. However, I was chilled awake over the weekend when Pat was away in the camp, and she forgot to leave me any bankets by locking up all the bedrooms. I end up have to sleep on the couch rather than sleeping in the cold basement. I was not feeling too well since then. I didn’t get enough rest for the camp site visit and meeting friends from the States in the following days. I thought I am ok on tuesday when I go to work, but end up have to leave early and visit a doctor. I hope I will get better tomorrow after resting at home all day without leaving the door. Moreover, my home is much more tidy now.
Today I spent most of the time writing travel journals, so far I had finished 2 out of 6 chapters.
I spent too much time writing already, my brain is suck dry. Can’t think of anything else to write in my blog.
Pat come out from the church camp today, from what she had told me I guess I didn’t miss much,
except the latest gossip about Brother Anthony.
Other than visiting doctor for my cold and god some medication, I had attended three mini-gathering today. The first one is get together with the WYD team. I had to drop off my photos to Jan at the 6:30 mass at St. Paul, and then I drop by at Earl to say hi to those who can make it to the dinner. I don’t have much time to catch with their stories since I have to run to see another friend. One thing I know is that they had to desperately look for the Eucharist and watied 6 hours for bus to leave Marienfield, arrving in Koln at 11p.m. I feel really lucky that me and Pat got away relatively earily. SoB has a wedding to attend tomorrow, so he come to Vancouver for just 2 days. I have dinner with him and talked alot about friends in the Lasalle group. Then somehow Derek is in town tonight as well, he is having his flying trip from SJ all the way to Victoria. So I have drink with him afterward. Too bad that SoB has to rest early tonight so he couldn’t join us for a drink. As he said, he see Derek almost every week in SJ, what’s the point of seeing him here in Vancouver. I found I am repeating the similar topics with Derek, just disscuss them in a different aspect. It kinda odd I am seeing them quite often this year. I just met them last month down in SJ and I will see them another next month when Mingwai come over.
I found that I am spending quite some time reading info about my new iPod shuffle. I am looking forward to use it as a replacement for the CD player in my car. It is just inconvinient to burn CD. Finally I am catching up with the digital trend by having my own mp3 player, although my player is a bit lame without the screen. But hey, it’s free, what can I ask for more?
